Transporting a critically ill patient requires expertise in critical care. Ideally, the medical team should include specialists in Anaesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Intensive Care.
3. Where was the doctor trained?
Training and clinical experience matter. Doctors with experience in tertiary hospitals, ICUs, trauma centres, and air medical transport are better prepared to manage emergencies during transfer.
4. Does the team have real transport experience?
Ask about experience with ventilated patients, ICU transfers, international medical repatriation, neonatal and paediatric transport, and ECMO transfers.
